World's Cheapest Computer Unveiled in India for $35

Tablet Computer - Jeff Vergara
Tablet Computer

Move over, iPad! The world's cheapest computer was recently unveiled in India. Designed for students, the tablet computer will cost a mere $35.
Computers sure have come a long way! Just a few short years ago, desktop computers and monitors were big, bulky and slow. Laptop computers were heavy and expensive. Today, desktops, laptops and netbooks are slimmer, faster, lighter and much more affordable. But imagine being able to purchase a brand new Wi-Fi enabled tablet computer for less than $50!

Indias $35 Tablet Computer

According to a recent report by the Associated Press, India has developed a new tablet computer designed for students. While there is nothing new about designing a new computer, this particular system is expected to cost $35.

Last week, Indias Union Cabinet Minister for Human Resources Development (HRD), Kapil Sibal, unveiled a new low-cost tablet computer prototype. The computer was developed to provide Internet connectivity to students and teachers at an affordable price. The worlds cheapest computer, yet to be named, is powered by a 2-watt system for use in areas with little power.

$35 Tablet Computer Features:

  • Open-source Linux operating system

  • 2GB RAM

  • Internet browser

  • Wi-Fi enabled

  • USB port

  • PDF reader

  • Open Office Suite

  • Multi-media software

  • Video conferencing tools

Although there is no hard disk, the computer uses a memory card similar to many mobile devices. Additional features may also include a solar power option for recharging in rural areas where electricity is scarce.
Developed by students and professors at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology and Indian Institute of Science (IISc), it is expected the new computer will be introduced to higher educational institutions sometime in 2011. The government initially plans to roll out one million computers to university students and then expand the distribution to include secondary and primary schools.

While no manufacturer or distributor deal for mass production have been made yet, several have reportedly shown interest in the ultra-cheap, super-sleek handheld device.

One Laptop per Child Campaign

Several years ago, MIT Professor Nicholas Negroponte launched the non-profit organization, One Laptop per Child (OLPC), a campaign that brought the world of affordable computing to children in developing countries. While the first XO laptop computers cost about $200 each, OLPC is planning on launching a basic tablet computer for $99. For more information, please visit the OLPC website.

While $35 sounds like a great deal for a brand new computer, just imagine being able to buy a system with a crisp $10 bill! The ultimate goal is further reduce the price tag and sell the tablet for just $10 per unit!

cheapest super computer in the world

This super computer was built by a Japanese university professor , its built using ordinary computer parts that you can find in any computer shop every where , and what is -very- special about this computer is that its very cheap compared to other super computers around the world ,computers owned by governments and big corporations that coasts around 1.2 bil$ each .this one coast only 420000$ ,and it broke the world record of performance ( calculations per second ) compared to the other extremely expensive super computer.

Celluon virtual laser keyboard also has sound

Laser Keyboard with sound
I never thought that I could get used to those laser-powered virtual projection keyboards. While I think it would be handy to pair a device with something that would create a keyboard on any flat surface, I need the haptic feedback of the clickity-click of the keyboard.

I know that I should just evolve out of this, because touchscreen keyboards are quiet, and I think we are moving away from traditional button keyboards. Fortunately, I can wait a little while to get over my fascination with keyboard sounds as the Cube Laser Virtual Keyboard comes with gesture recognition software so that the user can hear the click to indicate control gestures as well as keystrokes.

In addition to this feature, the Cube Laser Virtual Keyboard has a very liquid interface for its laser projection, so the image of the keys is much better than before. It pairs with devices via Bluetooth, which means that it is compatible with most smartphones, tablets, and even laptops.

I suppose that I wouldnt mind having one of these for myself, but I just tried tapping my fingers on my desk for a few seconds, and it wasnt the same as typing on a keyboard. However, if this is for you, then head over to ThinkGeek and lay down about $170 for it.

100 Best iPhone Apps Ever

Our ongoing strive to find the best apps continues. With over 350,000 iPhone apps in the App Store, picking the right one to download can often be a tricky business. Here at Cool-Technology our team of contributors has been reviewing and recommending 100s of great apps and we do all we can to find the really good stuff. A while ago I decided to compile a top 100 list based on ratings and recommendations at cool-technology.blogspot.com and also based on most mentioned and talked about apps on other top review sites. It became a more mammoth task then I anticipated but finally the list is ready and the result has to be the 100 best iPhone apps, ever! I have classified the apps in three categories starting with Useful apps and then continuing to Entertainment and Games.

Useful Apps

1. 2Do $6.99, Developer: Guided Ways Technologies Ltd null
2do iphone app review
A user-friendly task management and to do list app that does exactly what it says on the tin. The user-interface is clean an intuitive and the latest version now supports synchronisation with Outlook, Mac, and Toodledo. The Biggest feature of this app is push notifications. Many to-do managers in the app store are missing this feature that is top of the shopping list for many shoppers of the App store. When making a new to-do, or editing an old one, there is the option of assigning alarms for when the item is due and/or before its due. These alarms come in the form of push notifications and/or email, giving you no excuse to forget your partners birthday!

2. Air Sharing -  $2.99, Developer: Avatron Software, Inc.null
Air Sharing iphone app review
This app allows you to view and email your documents on the go, drag-drop files between your iPhone or iPod touch and your computers and send email attachments; an essential app for any business person wanting to be plugged into the world of work 24/7.
3. Around Me - Free, Developer: Marco Pifferi null
Tweakersofts AroundMe application uses the iPhones GPS functionality and Google maps to help you locate services and businesses in and around a particular neighbourhood. You can use your current location as a starting point, or enter an alternative city or town great when youre planning a trip away from home.

4. Birds of Britain and Ireland - $20.99, Developer: BirdGuides Ltd.null
Birds of Britain and Ireland iphone app review
A high-quality digital field guide covering 271 species of birds regularly seen in Britain and Ireland. This list covers all except the rarest vagrants and includes every bird likely to be seen by the vast majority of birdwatchers in the UK throughout the year. Comprehensive information is provided including: multiple annotated illustrations by leading artists showing the full range of plumages including rarer races and variations, beautiful photographs for many species; songs and calls, maps showing distribution in the UK and in Europe and the full detailed text accounts from the Concise edition of Birds of the Western Palearctic (THE standard reference work originally published by Oxford University Press). Perfect for more experienced birders who will appreciate the comprehensive and professional ornithological content in this App.
5. Capital Eats - 7.99, London Discount Dining Ltd null
I know what youre thinking: 7.99 for an iPhone App?! Dont you know that the country is in a deep state of economic crisis and that is more than most people spend on their daily food intake?! Well, before you start grumbling about yuppie media types with more money than sense, take a second to read about an App that will actually save you huge amounts of money in the future.
Thats right, the heavy price tag on Capital Eats actually serves as an investment, one that you can make back when you first use the App. If you live in or around London, chances are that you are going to want to sample the many culinary delights that its bars and restaurants have to offer. However, the menu prices are often on the high side and this can put many people off the pleasure of dining out, (yes, yes, especially in a recession!)

6. Dictionary.com - Free, Developer: Dictionary.com, LLC null
dictionary iphone app review
The free Dictionary.com app delivers trusted reference content from Dictionary.com and Thesaurus.com. NO INTERNET CONNECTION IS NEEDED TO SEARCH WORDS. The app includes nearly 2,000,000 words, definitions, synonyms and antonyms. It also features audio pronunciation, voice-to-text search and Dictionary.coms popular Word of the Day and Hot Word blog.
7. Documents Free (mobile office suite) - Free, Developer: Savy Soda Pty Ltd null

As a writer I am always looking for different ways to write. There are times when an idea strikes and I have no pen or paper in site (what can I say, I am old fashioned) so when I saw Documents Free I had to give it a whirl. I tested the app making a basic spreadsheet. I was a little hard at first to figure out what I was doing. I made a spreadsheet of title ideas and where I would like to publish them. Simple task

8. Dragon Dictation - Free, Nuance Communications null

Ever fancied having your own secretary to type your text messages for you on the move? Well now you can have just that and she wont talk back, ask for coffee breaks or make personal calls on your phone! This is Dragon Dictation 2.0 for the iPhone.
Software dictation is no longer the clunky, slow, error-ridden thing of the past. While you cant expect Dragon to spell phrases like globigerina ooze correctly, it does a fantastic job with simple, straightforward speech. This is just perfect for texting, sending emails or updating your Facebook profile.

9. Dropbox: Great For Document Sharing null

I have been hearing about Dropbox for a while and finally yesterday decided to test it to see if I can easily view my word and excel documents on my iPhone and iPad. Sure enough the sign up and setup took only a few minutes.
Essentially you download the application from http://www.dropbox.com/downloading, install it on your computer and you are ready to go. Dropbox is free for the first 2GB of data and if you need more storage you pay for it.

10. Evernote  - Free, Developer: Evernote null

If youre a business professional or just a busybody, Evernote just made things a lot easier. In the past, any kind note taking we did on our iPhones, work and home computers, and any other device was really a pain in the neck because nothing was in sync!
You had to either copy data between the devices, keep mental notes or whatever and sometimes things became really disorganized. With Evernote this all changes. This popular note taking application is a must-have for note organization and is regarded as one of the most essential applications for users in all walks of life.

11. fring - Developer: fringland ltd, Price: Free null
frings taking it to the big boys here with its latest release of its social networking and internet calling app. The app itself lets you connect with all of your friends who also have fring on their mobile. What does this mean? It means youre able to voice or video call them absolutely free of charge! If your friends arent answering, why not send them a free chat message? fring has also gone one step further. The app is able to communicate with Facebook, MSN Messenger, ICQ, Google Talk, Twitter, AIM & Yahoo!. This means that your friends cant escape you, and you cant escape them.

12. Google Mobile App - Developer: Google Mobile, Price: Free null
The boffins at Google have put together a lovely little treasure here for the iPhone user. Pulling out all of the stops, you arent left with just a simple search app Youre left with an incredible search app. My favourite feature of this app is the fact that the camera app holds countless possibilities. Im going to throw a scenario your way. Picture this: youre sitting in a caf in France, and you cant read or speak a single word of the language, but you really fancy something from the menu. Dont know what the menu says? Worry not, my linguistically challenged friend! Simply take a quick snapshot of the text, and Google will work its magic to translate the text. Google calls this Google Goggles, and it is able do more than translate the 6 languages it currently can.

13. How To Videos From Howcast.com - Developer: Howcast Media, Inc., Price: Free null

How many times has this happened to you: youre walking down the street, and an ever-shady college street musician accosts you and asks how to buy pet insurance, how to make an origami frog, or how to identify a Northern Oriole on a nature hike. Of course! These are everyday occurrences for all of us. Well, now you can be prepared for just about all of lifes most perplexing challenges. How to fix your leaky faucet. How to know if youre boring (hint: it may or may not involve making videos on how to know if youre boring). How to make balloon animals. How to clean up after a party so your parents wont know.

14. iFirstAid - Free, Developer: Survival Emergency Products null
iFirstAid iphone app review
iFirstAid Lite is designed in Australia to meet some of the most harsh and unforgiving conditions on the planet. So you can count on it wherever you are around the globe. With its single-page, memory jog format, iFirstAid Lite is designed to make it as easy as possible to recall First Aid procedures when you need them most. All iFirstAid Lite content is authored by international First Aid expert Ella Tyler, winner of the International Florence Nightingale Medal.
15. iHandy Carpenter - Developer: iHandySoft, Inc., Price: $1.99

A simple idea, yet so, well, handy. This app puts a surface level, bubble level, plumb bob, protractor, and ruler all on your iPhone. If youre an urbanite, you may not own all of these tools; if youre a suburbanite, you may not know where your partner keeps them. The latter is the case for me. Although I am handy with tools, I gladly gave them over to my husband who keeps them in the garage. When in the middle of a project, I do not like stopping to go to the garage and search for a tool. For example, while rearranging my daughters room, we realized items were rolling off the top of her bookshelf. On the spot, I turned on iHandys level to assess the situation.

6. Google Translate - Developer: Google Inc., Price: Free null

The limits of my language are the limits of my world said philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein. And so it was, until Google introduced the Google Translate App for iPhone. The app, linked to Googles infinitely powerful mainframe computers, translates to and from over 50 languages. But thats not all: it can translate 15 languages just by listening to them being spoken.

17. Keynote Remote - Developer: Apple Inc., Price: $0.99 null
With Keynote Remote, you can control your Keynote 09 slide presentation on your Mac from your iPod touch or iPhone. Its great because you are actually using your iPhone to view and control the slides; you no longer need to worry about line of sight to the laptop. It only works with WiFi and not Bluetooth and is very easy to setup. The only issue that we can find with this App is that since slides have to be downloaded to the iPhone, sometimes there is a bit of a wait involved, which is normally not an issue for a small presentation but can begin to drag if you are giving a longer presentations with a huge number of slides.

18. LogMeIn Ignition - Developed by LogMeIn Inc., 17.99 null

For me, this is a life-changing app. Ive used the free LogMeIn service for a long time; any PC I might want to access has the free client running on it, which means that as long as I can get onto a PC with an internet connection and a browser, I can manage any of my PCs work, home, friends. I dont know how Id manage without it.

19. MOBILE MOUSE - $1.99, Developer: RPA Tech, INC null
mobile mouse iphone app review
Although a little geeky this app is great for those of you who use your computer or laptop for more than scouring eBay for great deals or simply typing articles. Theyre our stereos, DVD players and photo albums and with Air Mouse, you can control all these things using your iPhone or iPod touch as a wireless remote.

20. My Measures & Dimensions  Developed by SIS Software, 2.99 null

Cast your mind back to your last DIY project. Did you write a bunch of measurements on a scrap of paper? What were the chances of losing it or forgetting exactly what one of the measurements meant just when you needed it the most? Most of us have been there and done that!
My Measures and Dimensions is a fab app that will solve this problem for you forever. Simply import a photo of the room, object, or person you want to measure, then quickly and easily draw lines, add measurements and put labels on. The app combines ease of use with many powerful functions so you can easily note down all the details even for a complex project. You can even email the annotated photos to your architect!

22. Viber - Free, Developed by Viber Media Inc null
This app could save you hundreds of pounds in phone bills over the next few years. Essentially, Viber is Skype for phones, seeing as you can speak to anyone in the world, (provided they are a Viber subscriber and you both have an internet or Wi-Fi connection), for as long as you like for free. You simply search for them in your contacts and press the Viber call button that will connect you through the Viber network. For those of you worried about going over your data allowance, simply connect to Wi-Fi and the call is totally free, no strings attached! Unlike Skype, you can search for people with their phone numbers as opposed to their email addresses, which is another added bonus.

36. FOURTRACK - Developed by Sonoma Wire Works, 5.99 null

Calling all musicians! Any composer or songwriter will certainly already have endless midnight recordings stored using the voice memo app. A verse here, a melody there, some good and some that seemed good at 4am after a few drinks, but in the cold light of day resemble a wailing cat that has been thrown at a guitar. But with FourTrack you can now begin to create entire tracks all on your iPhone. Record a verse, then lay down a melody or vocal line over the top to bring any ideas you have together and give your compositions more depth.

37. Gorillacam: Take Great Photos - Free null

Not everything that Apple touches turns to gold, and Gorillacam is a great example of a third-party doing it better. It adds a whole bunch of settings that should have been included in Apples offering, including a self-timer, anti-shake, time-lapse, bubble level (for taking level photos), and a three shot burst mode. The best feature, however, may be the Unlimited Rapid-Fire mode, which takes up to 1.6 photos per second continuously until you run out of space. The whole app is free, too.

38. Hipstamatic - Developer: Synthetic Infatuation. Price 1.19 null

Have you ever wondered whether photographers really do have to have an eye for the perfect shot, or whether anyone can create a beautiful photograph just by using the right equipment? Well, that question can be answered by downloading the Hipstamatic App, which allows you to take photographs in the style of old Hipstamatic cameras, giving a grainy, blurred but always impressive feel to any photo that you decide to snap.

39. iBooks - Free, Developer: iBooks null

iBooks is a well-designed app that allows users to build up a library of eBooks and PDFs, keeping them nicely organised them on a digital bookshelf. The presentation is pleasing on the eyes, and many of the purchased eBooks have the same cover as their paper counterparts. Sadly, iBooks lacks the social function of a real bookshelf, which allows you to impress house-guests by strategically placing intellectual texts and poetry at eye-level while consigning Dan Brown novels and Bear Grylls Survival Guide to the bottom shelves. Yet this is a sacrifice that must be made in order to embrace digital reading.

40. iFitness: Your New Workout Buddy! - Price 1.19 null

With the iFitness App you can now enjoy all the benefits of a personal trainer without the constant pressure or the exorbitant price tag. iFitness is the ultimate exercise App, with a detailed list of exercises for each area of the body, complete with a detailed diagram of the human body to match your work out to whatever muscle group it is that you want to improve. It also offers a comprehensive list of routines and programs to match your targets; for example, the Basketball Conditioning Routine shows the budding hoop star the best exercises to work on at certain points in the season to optimize their body for the courts. There are also more regular routines, such as the Swimmer, Runner and Soccer Programs along with routines that will help you lose weight, build your abs or even define your glutes!

41. iSpy Cameras - Developed by SKJM LLC, 0.59 null
As entertainment apps go, iSpy is something very different, interesting and fun. The basic concept is that your it will enable your iPhone will connect to many different public webcams from all over the world, and let you have a peek at what is happening. Have you ever been to San Diego zoo? Living in the UK, Ive never had that opportunity. But with iSpy I can connect to a number of different webcams around the zoo, and see what the animals are doing from the comfort of my sofa at home! The Panda Cam is probably the most popular, and the camera is clever enough to pan round and follow the animals as they move around their enclosure.

42. iVideoCamera - Developer: Laan Consulting Corp, Price: 0.59 null

Life is full of unexpected and unplanned moments in which we all encounter. The key is to capture these moments and yet again, our beloved iPhone and the iVideoCamera app can help. iVideoCamera records and captures these magnificent moments and turns them into memories that you can save and share with others.

43. Kindle: Lets You Read your Favourite Books - Free null

With over 630,000 books on offer in the Kindle store, including the latest best Developers and new releases, this app offers a new source for reading your favourite novels whether on the move or whilst at home.
A drawback of the app is that it enters an already flooded market, with several similar apps available it struggles slightly to differentiate itself within a very competitive market. However, with additional quirky features such as Amazon Whispersync, which automatically syncs the last page that you read, and also bookmarks, notes, and highlights, across various platforms including the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, you are always able to pick up right from where you left it no matter what device you are reading on.

44. last.fm: Discover New Music - Free, Developer: Last.fm null
Last.fm does the work of Internet trolling for you. The idea is similar to the Music Genome Project: create your own radio station using a band you already like, and theyll play music that is similar in sound and scope. But beyond just playing the music, Last.fm will also show you whether that band is currently on tour (and if so, where and when), what tracks you recently listened to (helpful if youve zoned out and suddenly want to recall the name of that really great tune they played three songs ago), and music stations they recommend based on your preferences.

45. LoveFilm  - Developed by LoveFilm, Free null

In our societys relentless drive to be able to do everything while sitting on our asses in our living rooms, LoveFilm is a spearhead. The UKs largest DVD rental company with over 67,000 films and over 1,000,000 members has made going out to get a movie seem as redundant a notion as hanging out at the arcade or throwing rotten veg at prisoners in the stocks.
As if LoveFilm hadnt already made life easy enough, you can now link your LoveFilm account to your iPhone courtesy of this official app. And this is no half-assed offering; almost all of the features from the PC version are there, and best of all its FREE (if you dont count the fact that you need a LoveFilm account to benefit from it).

46. miCoach - Developer: Adidas International Inc, Free null

50. Shazam: The Most Downloaded App In Europe - Free null
The most downloaded iPhone app in the US, according to research by comScore, is Facebook. In the UK, tellingly, its iPint from Carling, but in Europe its Shazam. Four months ago the London based start-up introduced a paid-for version of its iPhone app Shazam Encore and limited the free version to five tags per month. This doesnt seem to have stood in its way.

60. Ultimate Guitar Tabs - $2.99, Developer: Ultimate Guitar null

There are some musicians who will never have to pick up a song book, or read a note of music, having been blessed with perfect pitch at birth and can therefore unleash a flawless rendition of any song within minutes of first hearing it. Then there are the other 99.999% of us, who actually have to learn our favourite songs the old-fashioned way. However, trawling through second-hand music books or deciphering the scribbles that your mates older brother jotted down for you isnt anyones idea of a good time, and lets face it, hardly rock and roll.

61. Yelp - Developer: Yelp, Inc., Price: Free

I have been using Yelp for about a month now. When it first came out, or when I first heard of it, not sure which came before the other, I could not locate anything by me (thank you small town, America). I dont know what happened between the changes from then to now. Now I have almost everything that is as close to me as can be within the Yelp radius. Not only can I plot myself, as I like to say, I can also review the place I am visiting, bookmark my favorites, and there is even a section for sales and special offers. Bonus!

63. Angry Birds - Developer: Rovio, $0.99 null
Being able to launch a feathered missile into a pig shelter and watching trotters fly as your Angry Bird detonates an atomic egg, all the while on the bus to work is going to take some beating, (no pun intendedhonestly). With the app developers Rovio regularly updating the themes with the latest Ham Em High set of levels featuring pigs in cowboy hats, it would take something pretty special to knock Angry Birds off its perch.

64. Bejeweled 2 - Developer: PopCap Games Inc., Price: 0.59 null

However, the iPhone manages to put the fun back into the car park as you have to guide coloured cars to their respective bays. 67. Canabalt - $2.99, Developer: Semi Secret Software, LLC null
Canabalt iphone app review

One of the most addictive and interesting iPhone games is a daring escape platform game that has been described as simply beautiful and beautifully simple. Run from giant robots with lasers as they chase you through your city that is currently being destroyed by said robots. Dodge obstacles such as bombs and boxes; the great thing is, every time that you play, its different.
68. Chicks - Free, Developer: Triniti Interactive Limited null
Chicks iphone app review
One day, a group of chicks was exploring a meadow when they discovered a mysterious hole in the ground. Being curious and innocent little creatures, they decided to poke their heads in for a look. Little did they know it was a portal to another dimension! Now the chicks have fallen into a strange world of obstacles, deserts, and glaciers, and they need your help to escape! Use the tools at the bottom of the screen to guide these chicks back to the meadow before time runs out and the portal closes!
69. Doodle Jump - $0.99, Developer: Lima Sky null

A platform game of sorts, you tilt your iPhone to move your character as he bounces up on to moving platforms, being careful not to fall off the edge into the abyss; dodge aliens and shoot objects out of your way, acquiring rocket packs and pogo sticks on your way. Share your results on Facebook with the other addicts.
70. Bankshot - Free, Developer: Endloop System Inc.
null
Bankshot is how I imagine Snooker would be played in the Tron universe. The objective is to flick your puck into the target by bouncing it off the walls anywhere between 1 and 3 times. Due to the fairly limited leeway you have with how many times you can hit the walls, the game requires careful calculation as well as coordination. If youre looking for something more explosive, theres also an XL Mode which throws in a few extra lives, power-ups and obstacles. It may not be content-heavy but the level of skill involved in actually becoming good at it should hook those up for a challenge.

71. Sheep Launcher - Developer: Atomic Bullfrog LLC, Price: $0.99null

Sheep Launcher fulfils every boys teenage fantasy, (no, no that one, weirdo), and allows you to launch a bleating sheep, pig or frog into the atmosphere, sending them higher and higher the more you tap your screen. On their voyage you can navigate the stratosphere to collect handy items such as helium tanks, rocket packs and flying saucers; if you manage to grab a few stars on the way, then your score will increase.

72. Tiny Wings- $0.99, Developer: Andreas Illinger null
App developer Andreas Illinger has devised an iPhone game so simple that you could play it with just one finger, thumb, toe or any other protruding part of your body, if you were so inclined; all you have to do is touch the screen when the Tiny Wings bird is travelling downhill to gather momentum and release it just before you begin going uphill in order to allow your bird to realize its dream of flying, despite its, uh, Tiny Wings. As you hop from island to island completing such challenges as collecting points and touching the clouds, you can collect sun tokens and boosters that speed the bird on its way, which is useful as the game revolves around a battle against the setting sun; once nightfall arrives, its Game Over.

73. Jet Ball- $1.99, Developer: Alexander Oreshko null
Jet Ball is a glorified version of the classic block-busting game Breakout, Alleyway, Arkanoid, call it what you will. If this means nothing to you, youre a metal bar and need to bounce a ball off your body and direct it at the coloured blocks on the screen. Jet Ball is the most spectacular take on this kind of game Ive played. There are so many explosions, spinning blocks and power-ups that it can get a bit disorienting, but I enjoyed every chaotic moment of it.

77. Topple - Free, Developer: ngmoco, Inc. null

If Tetris blocks had strange leering faces, and the game was about building up the blocks rather than eliminating them, youd get Topple. Topple has a relaxed, low-gravity feel about it and your block-tower is sensitive to tilting your iPhone. While the game starts off chilled, it increases in tension as your tower grows taller and less stable. Theres a standard level-unlocking mode, free play and a brand new Space mode which doesnt impose a time limit on you. You cant ask for much more from a free game.

78. Kick Flick Football HD 2010 - 0.99, Developed by Kevin Ng null
The beauty of Kick Flick Football is that while its simple enough to kick a ball by swiping it with your finger, it takes time to become a master of the art. The trajectory of your shot is affected by which part of the ball you kick, how hard you swipe at it, and how you curl it just after the kick. The sensitivity of the ball to these variables makes Kick Flick a deceptively technical game thats as close as flicking your finger could possibly get you to taking a real free kick.

79. Flight Control - $0.99, Developer: Firemint Pty Ltd null
The objective of the game is to safely land as many aircraft on the tarmac as possible and avoid any mid-air collisions; aeroplanes, bi-planes and helicopters all must be landed on their allocated runway and you will get typically British phrases to congratulate you as they land, (Bravo! Splendid!). The elevator musak that plays in the background will calm your nerves as more planes arrive and you have to navigate them around each other, listening out for the warning beeps that signify an oncoming crash. There are different airstrips to try out and once you have completed a high score to be proud of, you can submit it to the games leaderboard.

80. Football Manager Handheld - $9.99, Developer: Sega America null
FM Handheld allows you to manage any league club from 11 different countries. After picking your club, youre presented with a simple-but-effective menu screen from which you can modify tactics, training, squad selection etc. The database is surprisingly large, and I rarely felt restricted in my search for new players or staff.

81. Glass Tower 2 - Free, Developer: Alexander Duhovny null

Glass Tower 2 is a game with physical collisions and gravity simulation. Gameplay seems to be easy at first; the tower is constructed of blocks, which are different in size, shape and colour. Your aim is to break all blue blocks and to save as many red blocks as possible. Blue blocks add a score and its amount depends on the size of the block. Red blocks subtract your score the same way; also, every broken red block subtract one life. Black blocks are indestructible and unmovable. Give it a go!
82. Alpine Crawler Desert - Dimension Technics Kft., Free null

Experience the Wild Wild West and race through six treacherous levels. You will have two different cars and must safely navigate through the terrain while avoiding all the hills, bumps and sharp drops along the way. A real time physics engine realistically mimics the movements and damages your car, so be extra careful or its back to the starting line.

83. NinJump - Free, Developer: Backflip Studios null

NinJump pulls off the impressive feat of being incredibly simple as well as stylish. You control a Ninja running up a gap between two buildings and have to avoid various obstacles by spin-jumping between the walls. If you hit a ninja star, squirrel or bird during your jump, you get power-ups that temporarily accelerate your skyward journey. If you get hit while on the wall, you die instantly and the game starts again and youll start again with it, because its just so damn moreish.

84. Paper Toss - Free, Developer: Backflip Studios null

Some people may think of Paper Toss as a bit 2008' but the fact that the developers are still releasing new levels for it now in 2010 is a testament to its appeal. The premise is that you throw waste paper into a bin, with a randomly-powered fan affecting its trajectory. Paper Toss includes several levels and Global Scoreboards, but its the simple, finger-swiping gameplay that makes this an all-time free classic.

85. Plants vs. Zombies - Developer: PopCap Games, Inc., Price: 1.79 null

Plants vs. Zombies is a light-hearted look at the idea of people coming back from the dead with a chip on their shoulder. It is not a game that should be taken too seriously and even if you didnt like it, the basic idea will raise a smile on many iPhone owners faces. By planting sunflowers in your garden, you will eventually collect enough sunlight to grow an impressive shrubbery. As well as its visual beauty, those flowers will come in handy once the zombies attack. But fortunately, the plants are not quite what they seem. They possess the ability to shoot, trap and eliminate the zombies one-by-one, meaning that the more care you take over your garden, the more likely you are to survive the invasion.

86. Cut the Rope - Developed by Chillingo, 0.59, null

Cut the Rope is a puzzle game that involves feeding a piece of candy to a monster called Om Nom. However, the candy is suspended from ropes and to get them to reach Om Nom you must cut them in the right order. In each level there are also optional stars to collect that unlock further levels and generally give a sense of closure to the levels. All it takes is for you to make one simple mistake, and poor Om Nom wont get his candy.

87. Hungry Shark Developer: Future Games of London, Price: Free null
This vicious yet amusing app puts the player in control of a shark that clearly hasnt eaten in a while. It is your job to keep your ravenous predator alive, and the only way to do this is by munching anything in your path. Innocent fish floating past or people minding their own business are on the menu. The more your shark eats, the bigger and stronger he gets. Just watch out for the hunters who aim to end your lunchtime in the most brutal of ways only they can stop your dominance of the ocean.

89. Stick Golf - $0.99, Developer: Jordan Schidlowskynull
It may just be us, but we find mastering this particular game intensely satisfying. Unlike many of the games on offer for the iPhone, with this one there is no time limit or ADD interface; no mad graphics or split-second pitfalls. Like real golf, its a case of teeing up the shot, taking a deep breath, adjusting for wind, and aiming just right. The underrated side scrolling time waster is like a cross between Tiger Woods PGA Tour and Worms 2. You aim with an arrow and charge up the shot. Simple but beautiful!

92. Guitar Hero - $2.99, Developer: Activision Publishing, Inc. null

Personally, were not big fans of the Guitar Hero console games. They seem to lack the satisfying nature of actually conquering a mean riff or rippin a solo in real life. So we were more surprised than ever when we test drove a copy of the iPhone Guitar Hero app. From the off it feels much more satisfying, truly taking into account the delicate and dexterous nature of handling a real instrument. Whats more, it utilizes enough notes per riff to make it feel like youre actually playing what you hear. Easily one of the most addictive games to just pick up and play on the iPhone!

93. Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 - By Konami, 4.99 null
The gameplay in Pro Evo is decent, and most importantly it runs at a good pace. A little shocking at first is the fact that the controls consist only of a d-pad and an A and B button. There is some variety with what you can do with these 2 buttons double-tap B for a through ball, hold it down for a long ball etc. but it does feel very basic. Also, computer-controlled players are prone to AI blackouts as sometimes they run off in a random direction or stop moving altogether. For all these niggles though, Pro Evo is fast-paced and playable.

94. Gun Bros - Free, Developer: Glu Games Inc null
Gun Bros is a simple top-down shooter in which you fend off waves of robot/alien creatures on various different planets. Whats most impressive about this game is the sheer amount of content you can unlock. As you earn money by gunning down wave upon wave of baddies, you can spend it on guns, outfits and power-ups to make you a more effective killing machine. You can even make your character available for others to use online, allowing you to gain XP even when youre not playing. Its hard to tell why Gun Bros is free and what the developers gain from constantly releasing new weapons and levels for it, but Im sure no ones complaining.

96. iCopter - Free, Developer: lawlmart null
This is easily the most love-it-or-hate-it game on the list. To the aficionado, iCopter is insanely, outrageously, inexplicably addictive. To the cynic? Mind-numbing. You simply control a side-scrolling helicopter, which travels through a tunnel from left to right, and retain stability by constantly tapping on the screen. Occasionally a floating object appears in front of you, which you must avoid. Thats it. Just try it, we dare you. Its like the heroin of the gaming world.

97. Streets of Rage - SEGA, Price 1.79 null
The game play is fantastic, with the helpful option of shrinking the screen, so as not to obscure your view of the action with your lightening-quick thumbs, and, just like the original, it is nearly impossible to complete! Each level ends with a boss to eliminate and they get progressively harder as the game goes on. The real fun lies in selecting your character each time you start a new game, seeing as each of them has different pros and cons that make the same levels seem different.

98. Stick Cricket -Developer: StickSports Ltd, Price: 1.79 in-game upgrade null

The game lets you play a team of batsman as they attempt to outfox a series of different bowler types from pure speed-demons, to spinners and swingers. Users are given a simple choice: swing your bat left or right. After that its all down to impeccable timing. The controls make the game simple and addictive just like the online version. There are three gameplay modes: World Domination, All Star Slog and Two Player. World Domination lets you play as England against a series of progressively tougher opposition. All-in-all, this game is really more of a six than a five star. Its a faithful representation of the online game simple, addictive, and fiendishly difficult.

99. Veggie Samurai - Developer: QuantumSquid Interactive, Inc., Price: $0.99 null
Veggie Samurai was created by QuantumSquid Interactive and is their in-your-face response to the popular Fruit Ninja game. This game brings a good deal of excitement to the table and fans of Fruit Ninja will be re-sharpening their blades as this game is bigger, badder and more deadly than ever. The graphics are fantastic. The details of the sliced vegetables background and blood were a joy to see. The realistic cutting sounds and Japanese-style music fit the mood of this game perfectly.

100. SimCity Deluxe - Produced by ElectronicArtsBV, 1.79 null

SimCity will always be a classic game in which you can play virtual God with your very own plot of land. The typical gameplay involves creating the city limits, establishing roads, power stations, water, residential, commercial and industrial areas, fire stations, universities and all you need to create a simulated haven. Once youve built a happy, content, mini-society standard procedure is too destroy it all by releasing one of many disasters onto your unsuspecting populace. Aliens, tornados, fires; there are plenty of creative ways of feeding our apparent God-complex.
